Gua Sha

Cool down Gua Sha routine.JPG

Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese massage technique that is thousands of years old. This technique works with the meridian lines, acupressure points, circulatory and lymphatic systems of the face but also of the whole body.

Over the last years, it has become such a huge trend and that's because it is truly a beauty and wellness asset when it comes to the health and appearance of our skin.

Its effects are both immediate and long term.

That's why it is a perfect complementary technique to the practice of Face Yoga!

How does it work ?

Massages are performed using 'tools' made usually in jade, rose quartz or white quartz which offer different properties depending on the crystal.

The Gua Sha works on multiple levels:

  • Increases microcirculation by up to 400%*, thus providing the skin with fresh nutrients.

  • Stimulates the lymphatic system which flushes toxins and wastes from the body and also removes excess fluid from the tissues. But these fluids can't move on their own and we have to move our bodies in order for them to start moving. Face Gua Sha helps to move the fluids of the face and upper body.

  • Releases tension and stress accumulated in deep muscles and fascias. By using a Gua Sha we can access the tissus more deeply than by using fingers alone and therefore profoundly relax the tissues.

  • Stimulates the acupressure points of the 8 major meridians present on our face. The meridians are the channels in which the Qi, the vital energy, circulates. These channels are associated with the main organs (heart, lungs, liver, etc.). A Qi that flows in the body is synonymous with good health! So It is important to avoid any stagnation of Qi as much as possible. Stimulating acupressure points with a Gua Sha will release the stagnant energy, strengthen the energy of the associated organ and rebalance our energy.

  • Relaxes body and mind. Taking care of yourself is a major point for our inner and physical well-being. Practicing Gua Sha helps to calm not only our face but also our mood and makes us feel good.

  • Deflates the face, your face will be more defined, less swollen. You will have a better complexion thanks to the stimulation of the lymphatic system.

  • Soothes sore eyes and skin for a brighter, more radiant complexion.

  • Diminishes pain such as headache, neck pain or jaw pain.

  • Reduces the expression lines caused by contraction and tension of the deep tissues.

  • Relaxes, the movements of Gua Sha on the face are very pleasant and incredibly soothing for the body and the mind.
